A Human Story

Tears and smiles
do color this life
in hues and shades
that promptly fade.

The fear to tear
so always near.
The need to smile
always takes a while

Tears and smiles-
manifest a call
Casting a vote-
an emotional poll?

Foreclosures both,
do clearly imply
an inadequacy
to live out a lie.

Having said that,
how do I compile -
a human story sans
tears and smiles.

once again i witnessed a war
between the mind and the heart

yet this time,
no clashing of swords
and no shedding of blood

this time
i witnessed how the showy ice of mind's detached techincal jargon
is
melting
down
by the heart's rhyming sighs

i witnessed how
l...i...fe
fl...ow...ed with a
t...ea...rful

wonderful and truthful your arrangement of thoughts and words
both of you I Me and human being
reading you always
awakes my sense of awe
bitter taste the tears
but enlightenment and experience
are food that bring the smiles out
necessary seem the ones for the others in this our modern world

ahh.. it reminds me of Kahil Gibran's A Tear and A Smile:

"A tear to purify my heart and give me understanding
of life's secrets and hidden things.
A smile to draw me nigh to the sons of my kind and
to be a symbol of my glorification of the gods."

You've certainly captured today's times. As always your poems never cease to amaze me.
Adding that picture was just not fair, I'll never forget that little face.
